Women In Construction

Kate Griffiths’ journey into the construction industry is a testament to her adaptability, drive, and passion for overcoming challenges. Starting her career in supply chain management within the NHS, Kate made the leap to EDF in 2017, taking on the critical role of Inventory Manager. At EDF, she demonstrated her talent for organisation and logistics, establishing procedures to bring in essential equipment and overseeing the Junction 24 warehouse and EDF site. From scoping out storage for pipes used in sea bed tunnels to assessing project needs and ground bearing pressures for operational equipment, Kate quickly became a vital part of the team.

In 2022, Wilson James recognised Kate’s exceptional talent and hired her as the Compounds Lead at Hinkley Point C. Managing a team of ten operatives across ten compounds, Kate has been instrumental in supporting Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC (MEH) operations, negotiating Construction Worker Services, and ensuring smooth daily running of the site. Kate thrives on the diversity of her role, where no two days are the same.

Beyond her operational excellence, Kate is a proud advocate for safety, embodying the principle of “safety first, never compromise.” She is a mental health buddy, dedicated to supporting her team’s well-being, and a passionate member of the Women in Nuclear group, championing the growing presence of women in construction.

Kate’s story is one of resilience, leadership, and dedication to supporting both her team and the future of construction. At Wilson James, she is not only managing complex operations but also championing a safer, more inclusive future
