The Leadership Academy Journey
Jenni Stone, Recruitment Manager at Wilson James, successfully completed the Wilson James Leadership Academy between September 2023 and April 2024. Having stepped into her management role a couple of years prior, Jenni joined the course with desire to enhance her leadership skills and take her management abilities to the next level. Through the Academy’s range of sessions, Jenni discovered her personal leadership style and identified areas where she could grow.
One of her key takeaways was learning how to effectively manage her workload by delegating tasks, and tapping into the skills of her team and network. This shift in her leadership style has enabled Jenni to create a more collaborative working environment and lean on her team when needed; something she’s found empowering and beneficial. The final stage of the Leadership Academy course entailed a presentation to the Operational Leadership Board and Executive Board of Wilson James.
The preparation and presentation exercises provided Jenni with valuable insights into the business and commercial aspects of Wilson James, and she enjoyed the opportunity to share her ideas with senior leaders across the board. This was something outside her usual scope of work, and the experience helped her grow in confidence as she learned more about the broader aspects of the company beyond recruitment.
